Installation Instructions - T3x nEXTgen Long Action AICS Bottom Metal

Installing the T3x nEXTgen Long Action AICS Bottom Metal

Our T3x Long Action AICS Magazine Bottom Metal is designed for self-installation as a drop-in ready trigger guard for Tikka stocks inletted for the factory T3x (non-CTR) bottom metal. Please note, that some minor modification of your factory stock will be necessary for our bottom metal to fit.

Please ensure/confirm that your rifle is unloaded and that the safety is in the SAFE position before proceeding with installation.

STEP 1:  Loosen the actions screws and remove the factory trigger guard

STEP 2:   Place your new RedSnake T3x nEXTgen Long Action AICS Bottom Metal in the stock so that that the rear of the part fits within the stock inlet first.

STEP 3:  If the inlet length of your stock is too short to allow the bottom metal to fit completely within it (e.g., Tikka factory stocks), the interior of the stock will need to be modified. Using a Sharpie, mark the spot on the underside of the front pillar platform where the magazine well of the bottom metal contacts the front pillar platform of the stock.

STEP 4:  Use a 3/4" flat file, a rotary tool such as Dremel, or an end mill to incrementally remove 1/8" (0.125") of stock material from the posterior side of the front pillar platform to a depth of 0.80" until the magazine well fits entirely within the stock and the bottom metal lies flat against the pillar platforms/stock inlet. Incomplete seating will prevent adequate action screw engagement with the action.

STEP 5:  Confirm the fit of your new bottom metal, and tighten the action screws to approximately 45-50 in-lb.

NOTE: Some aftermarket stocks may require adjusting (shortening) the length of the magazine release lever to ensure proper magazine engagement and feeding of rounds from the magazine.

It is your responsibility to ensure that your firearm is assembled properly and functions safely. If you have any questions about the installation of your nEXTgen AICS Bottom Metal or any other aspect of your rifle, we recommend having your rifle inspected by a qualified gunsmith to prevent damage to your rifle or harm/injury to yourself or others.
